Metered spend beats false headroom

API-shaped automation—claude -p, SDK runs, and GitHub Actions workflows—should be evaluated against metered API or usage-credit/spend-limit economics, not only the Max headline.

The failure mode is a metered bill, prepaid usage-credit depletion, or spend-limit exhaustion. That is safer when you need explicit controls, but it is not the same risk as a terminal subscription quota wall.
